MY FIRST BLESSING

-

I’ve been in a good, stable relationship for the past four years, with a loving and faithful man. He’s my best friend and I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime. We’ve stood by each other through thick and thin, and helped each other along our roads to success in our careers. All this came to a rather abrupt halt when a few months ago I found out I was pregnant. I wasn’t feeling right, and so I did a pregnancy test, even though I was on the contraceptive pill. To my utter disbelief, it was positive. At first, I was very nervous to tell my boyfriend. I called my mom instead and cried on the phone in the bathroom! When I did pluck up the courage to tell him, he didn’t exactly jump for joy, but he didn’t run away either. It took a few days for the news to sink in, for both of us, but before long we were on the baby bandwagon and couldn’t stop talking about the pregnancy. He comes with me to every scan and visit to my midwife. We’ve decided to go to a birth clinic to have our baby, as we want to have as little intervention as possible. I’m so happy I found Your Pregnancy magazine early on, because it’s so jam-packed with helpful tips and information. When we told our families our wonderful news, my sister handed over her stash of Your Pregnancy magazines to me, too, so now I’m really prepared with so much reading material!
