4 strips of streaky bacon handful cherry tomatoes 1 small French loaf butter 4 lettuce leaves sea salt and black pepper to taste
Method 1 Place bacon on a baking sheet and place in cold oven. Set oven to heat to 180˚C and bake for 10-20 minutes until crispy. When done, remove from oven and place on a double layer of kitchen paper to absorb excess fat. 2 Assemble your sandwich, slice the French loaf in half lengthways, spread butter on the inside, top with bacon, then tomato and finally your salad leaves. 3 Season with a little salt and pepper to taste.
Pregnant women should not eat cured meats, because they could contain the bacterium listeria monocytogenes, but cooking the bacon puts it on the safe list. If you prefer not to eat bacon, you can simply leave it out.
