BLT sand­wich

4 strips of streaky ba­con hand­ful cherry toma­toes 1 small French loaf but­ter 4 let­tuce leaves sea salt and black pep­per to taste

Method 1 Place ba­con on a bak­ing sheet and place in cold oven. Set oven to heat to 180˚C and bake for 10-20 min­utes un­til crispy. When done, re­move from oven and place on a dou­ble layer of kitchen pa­per to ab­sorb ex­cess fat. 2 As­sem­ble your sand­wich, slice the French loaf in half length­ways, spread but­ter on the inside, top with ba­con, then tomato and fi­nally your salad leaves. 3 Sea­son with a lit­tle salt and pep­per to taste.

Preg­nant women should not eat cured meats, be­cause they could con­tain the bac­terium lis­te­ria mono­cy­to­genes, but cook­ing the ba­con puts it on the safe list. If you pre­fer not to eat ba­con, you can sim­ply leave it out.
