JOHNSON’S ® Baby believes in good skin health and works to educate moms on proper skincare practices for their babies. Many mothers are unaware of the delicate nature of a baby’s skin and tend to use incorrect methods or products when caring for their baby. To empower mothers on these matters, JOHNSON’S® Baby are driving an aid and education initiative in partnership with NGO Unjani Clinics. By providing mothers with free access to good quality primary healthcare for their babies, skincare advice and baby products for better everyday health, the project provides a platform for professional nurses to inform mothers on the importance of baby skin health with the aim to promote healthy skin for healthier babies.

Babies’ skin is much more sensitive than an adult’s, it is 30 percent thinner and loses moisture up to five times faster. Since the skin is the first line of defense against infection, it’s important for us to practise a healthy bath time routine, ensuring good skin health for our little ones. MAKE BATH TIME SIMPLE WITH THIS 2-STEP ROUTINE

Step 1: Cleanse

Cleanse skin with clean water and a cleanser specially formulated for baby’s delicate skin. Cleansing with water alone can be ineffective, as it only removes water-soluble substances, leaving fat soluble materials behind. A hygienic daily routine, with specially designed baby cleansers, will eliminate dirt and bacteria while protecting your baby’s skin.

Step 2: Moisturise

Moisturise with a product specifically formulated to protect and enhance your baby’s skin barrier. Using emollients such as lotions, creams, ointments and oils will help improve the condition and hydration of the skin. Research has shown that early, effective and ongoing moisturisation of a newborn baby’s skin has a large benefit in preventing the development of infantile eczema and allergies – which can become a lifetime problem.
