MY NEW BEST FRIEND

Your Pregnancy - - Letters -

Four years ago I was pregnant with my first child. I was only 24 and I felt very unprepared. On top of that, I didn’t receive any support from the father of my baby. In fact, he left me shortly after I told him he was going to be a father. I was devastated. I went through a very dark time for a few months of my pregnancy. One day, my sister bought me Your Pregnancy magazine, and I suddenly felt I wasn’t alone anymore. I learned how many single mothers there are in our country, and I felt, if they can do it, then I can do it too. With the support of my family and friends, I got through it all, and I’m the happy mother to a healthy baby boy, who’s now almost four years old! And, he’s expecting a little sister soon, as I’m currently six months pregnant. I have the most wonderful partner now, who is father to both my children. He sees my son as his own, and I couldn’t ask for more. Thank you YP for being my pillar of strength during both my pregnancies. BIANCA FISHER, DURBAN
