‘It’s very important to sit still during your spinal block’
The anaesthetist asked me to sit up on the theatre bed, and my husband stood in front of me, in between my legs. He held my hands while I leant forward, which helped to curve my back. I felt a very cold feeling on my back while the anaesthetist wiped alcohol on my back. I didn’t even feel the prick of the needle but knew something was happening. It wasn’t painful at all. It is very important to sit very still, so listen to your anaesthetist! Yolandi, 34, Randburg
