Your Pregnancy

BREATHE EASY

-

With the weight of your growing bump, your chest and shoulders have started to pull forward, your hips are feeling tight and sore – and you’re finding it hard to breathe. Don’t fret just yet, as we’ve found the perfect exercises to ease your niggles and prepare you for labour, birth and breastfeeding

PRACTISING YOGA DURING pregnancy not only aids with digestion and blood circulation but also makes it easier for you to breathe. As your baby grows and takes up more space inside you, there’s less room for you to take deep breaths. When practising yoga, become mindful of your inhales and exhales. The more you focus on your breath, the easier it will become to take deeper breaths.

You’ll also enjoy a state of mental peace and physical well-being. These poses create space in your body, so when you come out of them, don’t lose the space you’ve created by collapsing and shrinking. Stay open, and maintain expansion, extension and your state of mind. Remember to take it easy. If at any time you feel dizzy or nauseous, take a sip of water, lie down on your left side with a pillow under your head and one in between your legs, and take deep, slow breaths.
