TRAVEL IN STYLE & SAFETY
HELEN SCHÖER, EDITOR OF YOUR PREGNANCY:
“You won’t regret spending more money on a proper pram or travel system. Rather save a bit on the cot and room décor. I made the mistake of buying cheap prams and they fell apart and had to be replaced. Better quality, even at a price tag, would have saved me money in the long run.”
HELEN SCHÖER, EDITOR OF YOUR PREGNANCY:
“Keep in mind the size of your boot when you buy a pram and also the dimensions of the pram once folded. You don’t want to buy a pram that can’t fit in the boot. Also, if Dad is tall, definitely let him also try out the pram before you buy it. The handle height has to work for him, too.”
CHARNÉ CASEY, ART DIRECTOR OF BABA & KLEUTER:
“My Maxi-Cosi infant car seats had a handy little secret compartment, the perfect size for your purse, or packet of wipes and a nappy for quick outings. Look for these clever details when making your choice.”
ROBYN LAWRENSON, DEPUTY EDITOR OF YOUR PREGNANCY:
“When buying your pram, a good trick to see how efficient it is to set up, is trying to do so with one hand only. Sometimes your baby will be in your arms already when you need to set it up.”
KARIN, BABY CITY AREA MANAGER:
“When you buy a travel system, make sure it fits in with your lifestyle. Expensive might not always mean practical. Ask yourself: How often will you use it? Does it fit in your car? Will you be using it indoors or outdoors? Is it easy to assemble?”
YOLANDI JORDAAN, DEPUTY EDITOR OF BABA & KLEUTER:
“Buy your pram in neutral colours. You never know what your next child’s gender will be.”
PEARL RANTSEKENG, DEPUTY EDITOR OF YOUR BABY:
“If you travel a lot, a good-quality stroller will go a long way in making your life easier during those long walkways to your next flight.”
REFILWE, BABY CITY NORTHGATE STAFF MEMBER:
“Get lots of advice on different car seats and travel systems before you buy.”
CHARNÉ CASEY, ART DIRECTOR OF BABA & KLEUTER:
“As a twin mom I had no choice but to invest in a good twin pram. I opted for an all-in-one travel system, from newborn to toddler. At the time it seemed like a very expensive product, but it came with car seats, carry cots, and as they grew older it also converted into a stroller, and I don’t think I would’ve survived without it. When buying your twin pram, make sure the pram can go where you want it to go. Some side-byside twin prams don’t easily fit through narrow doorways and grocery store pay points. A tandem pram worked better for me.”
