While some traditions and customs don’t advocate having a stork tea at the eight-month milestone (giving gifts before the baby is born is seen as bad luck), we recommend if you’re going to have a baby shower – now is the time!

The arrival of a new baby is daunting enough without the worry that you don’t have all the essential items needed to make the transition into parenthood easier. And while a baby shower may literally shower you with gifts, this doesn’t mean you will get everything you need in just one day. You could easily be left with 20 pairs of baby booties and no bottles! Having your baby shower in the eighth month gives you enough time to assess what presents you have been given, which ones you can swop and what you still need to stock up on. You never know when labour day will arrive (unless you are having an elective c-section, that is), but being prepared is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. You don’t want to be scanning the shop shelves for colic drops with a crying newborn in your arms – trust us!
