These fruit cakes will last for a week if you cover them with plastic and keep them in an airtight container. To make them last even longer, prick them a few times with a toothpick, and pour a few tablespoons of brandy over them. Use orange juice if you aren’t doing alcohol this Christmas. Wrap them in wax paper, add a pretty ribbon and voilà – a beautiful little gift.
