1

DARKEN YOUR BABY’S ROOM and put soft linen in her cot. A sleeping bag will help prevent night waking.

2

For babies under 3 months, LIMIT STIMULATION

after 4pm. A 100 percent cotton swaddling blanket will calm her and limit night wakings. 3

HAVE A CONSISTENT BEDTIME (6 to 7pm), preceded by a regular routine. Begin with a soothing, warm bath, followed by a calming massage.

How long your4baby has been awake determines when she should sleep. It’s vital that she is NOT OVERTIRED AT BEDTIME.

5

PUT HER TO BED AWAKE. Give her a soft toy or blanket to help self-soothe at night.

6

IF YOUR BABY FUSSES, stay with her, place your hand on her and soothe her to sleep.

7

NIGHT FEEDS?

Wait for her to signal that she’s hungry, unless there are medical reasons for waking her to feed. Keep night feeds very calm – dim the lights, limit burping time and don’t change her nappy unless it’s wet.
