egg circus

-

YOU NEED

• 3 eggs

• yellow cardboard for the lion

• brown and yellow cardboard for the monkey

• colourful paper for the ringmaster’s crown

METHOD

1 Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water (water has to be about

1 to 2cm above the tops of the eggs). Bring to the boil, then switch off the plate.

2 Place lid on saucepan and leave for 10 to 15 minutes. This is the easiest way to make hardboiled eggs.

3 Place the eggs in egg cups. Now your toddler can transform them into circus animals and a master.

4 Cut yellow paper into a big circle (about 5cm in diameter). Cut a smaller circle in the middle. Now use a black marker pen to draw the mane. Attach to egg using a little piece of double sided tape or Prestik. Draw the lion’s nose, mouth and eyes. For the monkey, you’ll need three brown circles and two smaller yellow circles. Stick yellow circles onto two of the brown circles to make the ears. Fold one-third back, place double sided tape on the folded part, and attach to the side of an egg. Now draw a straight black line on the last brown circle for the mouth. Attach to the egg, and use black permanent marker to draw the eyes. The crown is the easiest of all. We used a zigzag design paper strip to make a crown, but you could also cut triangles out of a plain coloured strip of paper to make a zigzag crown.
