WHEN SHOULD I WORRY?

-

Call your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following signs:

■ Severe abdominal pain or a swollen abdomen

■ Lethargy or irritability

■ Convulsions

■ Vomiting that continues for longer than 24 hours

■ Signs of dehydration, like a dry mouth, lack of tears and decreased urination (in this instance you’ll notice that your baby’s urine is very dark in colour)

■ The presence of blood or bile, a green substance. In these cases, save a sample of the vomit to show the doctor.

■ Persistent, forceful vomiting that occurs within an hour of eating

■ Your baby’s skin has a yellow tinge. This is a sign of jaundice.
