TIPS & TRICKS
DO
■ Avoid any smells that trigger your nausea.
■ Surround yourself with fragrances that make you feel better – lemon, cinnamon, ginger and mint may offer some relief, so sniff on these.
■ Avoid stuffy places. An open window with fresh air can do wonders.
■ Keep your stress under control. Emotional stress can cause gastrointestinal upset.
■ Remind yourself that this will pass. The reward at the end of the nine months will be worth it.
DON’T
■ Panic if you are losing a bit of weight during the first trimester. Before 12 weeks of pregnancy, your baby’s nutritional needs are minimal. You are likely to make up for it once the morning sickness passes.
■ Watch TV if the motion picture makes you feel sick.
■ Don’t underestimate sleep – fatigue aggravates nausea.
■ Don’t always force yourself to eat things that make you feel sick. Try other foods with similar nutritional value. ●
