When can I exercise again?

-

You can start your beloved Kegel exercises immediately after the birth. You can tilt your pelvis while lying in bed and do the Kegels seated or standing as well. These aren’t exhausting exercises by any means, but they make a huge difference in your recovery and help you firm up again. DO 10 REPETITIONS TWICE A DAY:

• Lie on your back with bent knees.

• Contract your pelvic floor while exhaling.

• Gently draw the navel inwards and upwards.

• Hold for about 10 seconds without holding your breath. Talk to your doctor after eight to 10 weeks to get the green light to exercise again. Walking, swimming and cycling can help your body get fit and strong and muscle tone to develop, which assists in improved mood and weight loss.

Be cautious when lifting heavy objects and when using stairs. Move with care and awareness at a pace you can control.

Signs that you have overdone things: nausea, dizziness, increase in vaginal bleeding, swollen ankles, temperature changes, foggy vision, tummy or breast pain.
