SLEEP REGRESSION TIMELINE

-

4 MONTHS

Shorter naps, hunger from a growth spurt or the fact that your baby is learning to roll over could all be factors that cause frequent night waking.

AROUND 9 MONTHS

This phase of night-time fussiness can be blamed on all that moving your baby is doing in the form of crawling and rolling, plus he’s soaking up words and language. Those neural pathways in his brain are growing at a rapid pace in response. All babies are different, but these are the ages at which your baby’s sleep could throw you a curve ball.

11 MONTHS

At this stage, many babies show signs of dropping a second nap, but it is more likely a phase of sleep regression. So stick with two day naps, and he’ll sleep better at night as a result too.

18 MONTHS

You’re dealing with a toddler here. And if they don’t want to sleep, you’ll hear about it! Stick to your guns. You’re facing a battle of wills as your toddler discovers his independence.
