“MONSTER-BUSTING” TIPS

-

• Keep evenings peaceful, with a routine that leaves time for dinner, a bath, a story and a bit of cuddling before you put the light out.

• Try not to expose your toddler to scary TV shows, movies, or books, as these may increase bedtime fears.

• Make her room as cosy and comfortable as possible, with a night light to illuminate dark corners.

• Don’t close the bedroom door if she asks for it to stay open.

• Make sure she has her comfort object at night, whether it’s a blankie, soft toy or even a bottle of milk.

• If she’s frightened at night, go with your instincts. Cuddle her, console her, and if you think she needs to come into your bed, let her. You know her better than anyone else.
