PROTECT YOUR CHILD

• Socialise and train your pet. • Create a safe space in your home for when your baby is unattended.

• Have your pet regularly dewormed, immunised and checked by a vet. • Wear gloves when cleaning pens, cages or litter boxes, and wash your hands after handling your pet. • Teach your child never to tease or hurt an animal. • Teach your child to recognise warning behaviour, such as a cat swaying its tail or making hissing, growling and snarling noises. • Warn your child never to approach a strange animal or stare at a strange dog.
