We asked: “How old were you when you had your first baby? Was that a good age to become a mother? In hindsight, do you think you should have been older or younger? Why?”
ASINA TEBATSO (29) from Hammanskraal, Gauteng, had her firstborn in 2010, when she was 18. “I wish I was financially stable, even though my dad and my mom were there. It would’ve been nice to get things when I needed them. Other than that, best you believe that I regret nothing. We are growing up together.”

NOXOLO JIMEROW (27) from Leslie, Mpumalanga: “I was 17, and I don’t think it was a good move, because I was straight out of school and wasn’t financially stable.”
SAMANTHA LEE DAVIDSON from Marais Steyn Park, Gauteng: “I was 33 when I had my first baby. I always thought I would have my first child when I was younger, but I can see that God’s timing is perfect. Glad to have been a bit older, as I feel I am more patient and mature to deal with some of the challenges of motherhood.”
