SOME CLEVER IDEAS TO SHOW OFF YOUR PICS TO PERFECTION

-

BUILDING BLOCKS

Mount your images onto... blocks! For a new take on vintage baby blocks, have a few wooden blocks cut at your local hardware store. Print out your favourite pictures on plain paper, and cut them into squares. You can either mix and match the images with scrap-booking paper, or simply cover the blocks with photos. Using Modge Podge, stick the images to the blocks. Once dry, paint another thin layer of the Modge Podge over the pictures, covering them completely, and then wait about 15 minutes for it to dry. Repeat this about four times. For an interesting vintage look, rub a small amount of distressing ink (available from scrap-booking suppliers) around the edges of the blocks.

IF THE PICTURE FITS, WEAR IT!

Using iron-on transfer paper, available at stationers, print out your favourite picture. Following the manufacturer’s instructions carefully, iron the image onto a plain white or coloured T-shirt, shopping bag or even a cushion cover.

TIP Be sure to buy the correct type of iron-on transfer paper for your needs. Some are better suited to dark fabrics, while others are specifically for lightercoloured fabrics.

TEA IS SERVED

Serve up your favourite snaps on a tray. This way, you can have an everchanging display of gorgeous pictures. To make, you will need a tray, some printed holiday snaps and a sheet of glass cut to fit the inside of your tray. Most hardware stores will do this for you. Lay the pictures on the tray – experiment with a few layouts until you find one you like.

Place the glass over the images. When you are ready to change your display, all you have to do is lift the glass and replace the images.

TIP For a longer-lasting display, stick the images to the tray, and paint a couple of coats of Modge Podge over them. It is best to wait 15 minutes between the layers of Modge Podge, ensuring that it dries before adding the next layer. Do this about five times, and then finish off with the glass.

STRING THEM UP

At a craft shop, buy some cute pegs and clips and some pretty yarn. Have your best photographs printed, and clip them up across a window or fireplace like bunting. Change them regularly to keep family members coming back to see what’s new. ●
