HOW BABY PLAY DEVELOPS

Your baby needs lots of opportunities to see, touch, taste, and smell a variety of things.

1 One of the best ways for you to stimulate your baby is to play music, especially classical music. Mozart, Beethoven or Bach are the best choices. Play music while you’re breastfeeding, before bedtime or while she’s sleeping. Do not play it too loudly. Babies and young children have 20 percent more hearing accuracy than adults. That means that when it’s at just the right loudness for you, it’s already too loud for your baby.

2 Give her safe objects of different textures to play with, that she can also put in her mouth. No child can identify anything if they can’t touch and taste it.

3 Your baby will love playing with a mirror. It will provide endless entertainment, because she will see someone who is always willing to smile back at her!

It will also develop self-awareness and social interaction.

4 Give-and-take games such as peeka-boo will help her learn to interact socially.
