Research has revealed some very interesting things about older moms

›› A Boston University School of Medicine study reports that women who have a baby after age 33 are twice as likely to live to age 95 or older than women who have their last baby before the age of 30. The study also mentions previous research showing that women who give birth after 40 are four times more likely to live to 100 than women who give birth at a younger age.

›› Researchers at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine say women who have children in their 30s and 40s are at lower risk for developing cancer of the uterus. The study shows that women over 40 who give birth are 44 percent less likely to develop the cancer than women giving birth in their mid-20s.

›› A study by Germany’s Max Planck Institute shows that people born to mothers in their late 30s or 40s are likely to have completed more years of education, and are taller and more physically fit. This applies even within individual families, where the youngest children appear to have advantages over their older siblings. The authors of the study believe this is largely because people who are born later are able to take advantage of societal advances, like improved health and medicine, more educational opportunities and societal progress. ●
