Celebrate our heritage
African Harvest Table by Local Village Foods is a thoroughly enjoyable book! It is beautifully illustrated, and the text is concise and well researched. It introduces you to some well known, traditional and lesser-known foodstuffs in a truly inspirational way. Pumpkin leaves are going to be in my soups and stews from now on. Also, which child wouldn’t like to try tiger nuts? Keep the book displayed in a prominent place in your home, and encourage your family to learn about and love our rich African food culture. For the little ones who can’t read yet, you can provide a matching colouring-in book that carries the same message. Local Village Foods is the brainchild of Sipamandla Manqele, an experienced South African entrepreneur and food production specialist with a passion for promoting indigenous African wholefoods.
We’ve had a chance to sample some of the products and were simply blown away. The Zesty Snack Bars and Green Snack Bars shown here are on sale on the website for R200 for 20. They make a great pantry staple to keep for lunchboxes.
