CREATING WORKLIFE BALANCE
Creating a work-life balance may not be easy but here are a few tips to get started:
■ Take stock of your work-life choices and ask yourself if things are working out as you planned. If not, what can you do to improve your situation?
■ Be efficient and organised in managing your home, life and work.
■ Some may criticise your work-life choices, but it’s about doing what’s best for you and your family first and foremost.
■ Prioritise quality time with your children as well as for yourself.
■ Ask for help from your partner, family and friends so you don’t feel overwhelmed.
■ Be realistic in your expectations.
■ Be sure to take a break to recharge and rest.
Dr Dannerup’s motivational advice to moms is: “Appreciate that you are busy learning a brand-new skill and that no baby comes with a manual. Give yourself credit for everything you do well, even the small things, and be compassionate and gentle with yourself about the things you have not yet mastered. Remember that the way you treat yourself will be the way your baby learns to treat herself – so be nice to you!”
