Cutting teeth

Teething brings with it many ups and downs – here’s what you need to know, and how you can help.

“Teething can start anything from 6 months and later,” says Joburg-based paediatric­ian Dr Simon Strachan. “Most children have a tooth by 9 months of age, but I have seen teething delayed to 15 months.” So don’t be worried if your little one hasn’t cut a tooth by 1 year, as Dr Strachan says, “The teeth will come when they’re ready.”
