Just like you can’t fool yourself, you can’t fool your child. Say what you say and do what you do with honesty and conviction. This improves cooperation. Even more important, though, is the fact that when we act calm and kind but are angry inside, it often builds up resentment, especially if the child does not cooperate immediately, and can often cause serious backlash.
