KNOW YOUR CYCLE

-

For you to conceive, sex must occur around the time that the egg is released from the ovary. By being aware of when you ovulate, you can try to make sure you have sex at the optimal time for conception. There are various ways of finding out about your cycle. You ovulate approximately 14 days before the start of the next menstrual period. If your cycle is regular, you can quite easily work out when you should be ovulating. In addition, you might notice a slight pain in your lower abdomen and a heavier discharge than usual. Your body temperature rises slightly around ovulation, and some women chart their body temperature so that they know when that is. Simply put, you need to be having lots of sex during this time! The best time is just before ovulation, so the sperm is ready and waiting when the egg is released. Dr Mohamed adds, “I don’t recommend measuring temperature and trying to find the exact time of ovulation, as I feel it puts too much pressure on the couple, but I would advise them to have sex virtually every day between days 10 and 16 of the cycle.”
