PUSH PRESENT IDEAS

The tradition of giving a new mother a special gift to mark the moment of birth is said to have originated in India. The ritual is called Godh Bharaj and can be similar to a baby shower if held before the birth. Typically, you’re showered with jewellery, but the gifts also include fruit, sweets and, of course, flowers. The modern push present, though, as often a “forever” one:

■ Jewellery is the classic gift. You could have it inscribed with the date of the birth.

■ A beautiful watch with an inscription.

■ A tattoo of your baby’s name is a permanent modern option. You could both get one.

■ A professional photo session, before and/or after Baby is born. ●
