YES TO HELP!
I’m writing this letter on behalf of my sister. She is an occupational therapist and is in the process of doing her master’s in public health. She is also married to a doctor who is specialising and has a huge amount of studying to do. Little Seth was born in August, and I have watched my sister juggle being a new mom as well as having to work and study. Luckily I live half an hour away from her and have been able to help her a bit (even though I feel as though it’s never enough and wish I could do more). I want to encourage other moms out there in this position that if you have friends and family offering to help you, especially if you’re a new mom trying to still study or work, to say yes to all the help you can get. Don’t try and do this alone. People want to help you, and it’s so much better saying yes to them. Even just having people pop in and help for short spaces of time can put a smile on your face and help you know that you’re not in this alone.
