PUT WORK IN ITS PLACE
You don’t have to silently quit because your job and your pregnancy aren’t mixing. Do this to regain your power:
■ Practise saying no.
■ Practise asking for what you want.
■ List 30 things you love to do at work, and do at least the top five this week.
■ Identify your priorities.
■ Create your own self-care programme of things that make you feel good.
■ Analyse the changes you want to make in your life. Consider the outcomes. Make one change at a time. Small steps will get you there.
■ Identify the people who have too much power in your life and gradually take it back. Hint: They’re the people who you find it hard to say no to, or to ask for help or praise.
■ Play fair. Tell your employer about your pregnancy early in the second trimester so there is time to plan for your leave.
