When last have your children played until they sweat? Can’t remember? Yip, it’s a global problem that activity levels have dropped. The pandemic lockdown turned many of us into couch potatoes; children too. Experts agree that for healthy growth and developmen­t, preschoole­rs should be physically active throughout the day for a minimum of 180 minutes – at least 60 minutes of which should be energetic play that raises their heart and breathing rates. When it comes to school-aged children and adolescent­s, they should be doing at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity to raise their heart rate, make them breathe harder and sweat more.
