Zululand Observer - Monday - - ZO NEWS - Conelia Harry

A DRIVER of a vehicle hire company was hijacked at gunpoint last Tuesday night in Alton by impostors posing as policemen.

Returning after dropping off passengers in the Richards Bay CBD, the driver was stopped on the Western Arterial by suspects in a double cab bakkie with blue lights, demanding to search his vehicle.

‘They made me get out and open the sliding door before pointing a firearm at me. They forced me into the back of my vehicle and tied my hands with cable ties.

‘I was forced to lay down on the seat while they drove around for hours before eventually dumping me in the forest near Sokhulu,’ the driver said.

‘A truck driver gave me a lift into town and we called the police for help at around 3.30am.’
