Popular series ends on a high
THE Zululand Multi Sport Club’s Dolos Night Challenge was hotly contested over three rounds, with more than 200 local athletes competing in 2.5km, 5km and 10km run/walk events.
The series was held on 7 February, 28 February and on Wednesday and was sponsored by Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Richards Bay.
After clocking three solid runs in a row, Quinton Simpson claimed the fastest 10km male runner award with a time of 1.58.17.
Desiree Verwey, who will be competing in the World Ironman Championships later this year, recorded the fastest women’s 10km time of 1.31.28.
uMhlathuze Athletics Club’s Nomcebo Mthethwa dominated the women’s 5km event with a time of 1.06.42, with Scot Davis taking the 5km men’s crown in 1.03.04.
