Very proud of local sport achiever
WHEN one has talent which can develop into something special and your teacher, when you part ways at the end of your school career, tells you: ‘Go well, but remember that I’ll be watching you’, you don’t think too much of it.
But as life goes on and you achieve things which earn publicity, people take notice.
Such is the case with Desiré Verwey.
More than a decade ago we played touch rugby together and I got to know her.
Although there was never a close friendship, I noted her many sport achievements published in the media - such as the recent Zululand Observer article about her participation in the World Ironman Championships later this year.
One is proud of the fact that she is from Empangeni and I would like to congratulate her and wish her well with her sport endeavours in future.
