City donates school uniforms
THE uMhlathuze Municipality boosted the self-esteem of more than 300 pupils from mainly primary schools in the city by providing them with brand new school uniforms.
The beneficiaries were identified by their respective school principals, working together with ward councillors.
Speaking at the handover in the Empangeni Civic Centre, Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo praised the private sector for their contribution towards changing the lives of needy learners.
Mhlongo said the new uniforms will bring dignity to the learners and ensure they can focus on their studies instead of thinking of their challenging circumstances.
‘We are grateful that the private sector, especially those doing business with the municipality, are giving back to the community,’ said Mhlongo.
