Mtuba teen dies after childbirth

A MTUBATUBA family is mourning the loss of their teenage daughter who last week lost her life after having given birth prematurely.

The teen, who cannot be named as she was only 16 years old, last weekend told her mother that she was feeling unwell and complained of severe stomach cramps.

According to police reports, she was 28 weeks pregnant.

After being called by the mother, a neighhbour arrived at the homestead to find the girl had given birth to a stillborn baby.

The girl was suffering heavy blood loss and was rushed to Qakhwini clinic, where she later passed away.

Mtubatuba SAPS have opened an inquest docket.

A post-mortem will determine the cause of death of the baby as well as of the teen.
