Fakude releases new album
GOSPEL artist Smanga Fakude surprised thousands of his fans when he announced that he has released his 8th album under a traditional healer’s company, Dr K Traditional Hospital.
This company is owned by Mxolisi Nkomonde of Mhlabuyalingana, who is known as Dr Mkhulu, a father of Mashilamu.
Fakude, who hails from Nkodibe near Mtubatuba, told the ZO, that he had been in and out of churches seeking assistance to take his gospel music to the next level, but no help was forthcoming.
‘All Christians closed the door on me. Joining a traditional healer’s company doesn’t mean that I am there to get muthi. I’m still a Christian,’ he said.
Fakude previously worked with the group Shongwe and Khuphuka for more than seven years.
‘I was a backing vocalist there and playing keyboard. The last CD I did with the group was in 2007, and it was titled Wenzeni eMhlabeni.
He went solo after parting ways with the group because of a dispute. S’manga said his latest CD has 16 songs.
‘I hope music lovers will respond positively to this album. This is my breakthrough, my previous work did not get much exposure and the marketing and distribution wasn’t good enough. I believe that my new company will be up to the task.’
