Take on the Tronox Marathon and Half Marathon

- Richard Springorum

COMRADES Marathon runners still hoping to qualify for the big event will definitely enter the popular annual Tronox Marathon and Half Marathon, hosted by the uMhlathuze Athletics Club at Addison Park on Sunday, 29 April.

This year will see athletes completing a new route that consists of a fast and easy qualifier through the suburbs of Empangeni.

Qualified runners will use this as a training run to test their preparations ahead of the gruelling run awaiting later this year.

Athletes can sign up for the 42.2km run at a cost of R200 per runner and will start their run at 5.30am on race day.

The 21.1km run/walk will start just after the 42.2km run and will cost R130 per runner.

There is also a 10km route for athletes who need to build confidence or work on their speed before tackling their first half marathon or just looking for a social run.

This distance will cost R80 per competitor and starts at 7am.

There is a nice 5km fun run also on the day for families and youth who want to be part of the event.

This race will start at 7am and costs just R20 per athlete.

One can register on the day or online on the club’s website.
