Long-stand­ing swim records bet­tered

PAR­ENTS, fam­ily and friends of learn­ers from the Holy Child­hood School were treated to a full morn­ing of swim­ming at the school’s an­nual in­ter-house gala on Wed­nes­day.

Mur­ray McHugh bet­tered A Hart’s U10 boys 50 me­tre breast­stroke record set in 1985 and Keri Byrne beat Kim Wegerle’s but­ter­fly U12 50m record set in 1990.

The win­ning house was St Bene­dict with 279 points, with St An­thony on 196 points and St Fran­cis (165) fin­ish­ing sec­ond and third, re­spec­tively.

Af­ter the gala it was an­nounced that Ella Han­bury-King, Keri Byrne,

Mur­ray McHugh and Annabelle Balmer have re­ceived their Zu­l­u­land swim­ming colours.
