Long-standing swim records bettered

PARENTS, family and friends of learners from the Holy Childhood School were treated to a full morning of swimming at the school’s annual inter-house gala on Wednesday.

Murray McHugh bettered A Hart’s U10 boys 50 metre breaststro­ke record set in 1985 and Keri Byrne beat Kim Wegerle’s butterfly U12 50m record set in 1990.

The winning house was St Benedict with 279 points, with St Anthony on 196 points and St Francis (165) finishing second and third, respective­ly.

After the gala it was announced that Ella Hanbury-King, Keri Byrne,

Murray McHugh and Annabelle Balmer have received their Zululand swimming colours.
