Search continues for missing aircraft
THE search for a light aircraft and its pilot who went missing off the coast of St Lucia bore no results at the weekend.
The aircraft, with the call sign ZU-PCB, left Newcastle on Wednesday night and was scheduled to land in St Lucia the same night.
According to police, the plane is believed to have lost altitude over the sea north of Mbazwana.
On Friday, Empangeni and Port Shepstone Search and Rescue units were deployed to the Sodwana Bay area to conduct a search operation.
On Saturday a military chopper as well as three vessels continued with search operations, but to no avail.
A beach patrol was scheduled for yesterday (Sunday), after which a decision will be taken whether a search will continue.
