Isuzu working on another SUV

Zululand Observer - Monday - - ZO MOTORING -

With its global passenger vehicle range consisting of the D-Max (KB), MU-X and Asian market only Panther MPV, a fresh report from India has claimed that Isuzu is working on a smaller crossover/SUV as worldwide demand continues to rise.

According to indianautos, the automaker’s Deputy Managing Director and Vice President for India, Ken Takashima, confirmed that a model below the MU-X is in the works, and that the brand is also considering going the hybrid route if proven to be financially viable.

‘Product development work

(for smaller SUVs) is going on internationally and we are yet to decide if India should be one of the markets for it.

For every product that we will launch in India, we will carefully consider the possibility of adding a hybrid option.

But it has to meet the price parameters to make it as mass market as possible,’ he said.

Despite having launched the updated MU-X in India just last week, the automaker is reportedly gearing up for the unveiling of the all-new model, as well as the D-Max next year, with prior reports suggesting that the latter in particular would move more upmarket to better offerings from chief rivals Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen.
