Mozambican nationals nabbed for stock theft
POLICE arrested four Mozambican nationals in Manguzi last week for contravention of the Immigration Act and stock theft. Manguzi SAPS together with Mozambican authorities conducted an operation in Mtikini area and recovered 26 Mozambican cattle hidden in the bush. Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the suspects aged between 18 and 26 reportedly stole the herd of cattle from Mozambique and crossed the border into South Africa. ‘All arrested suspects were detained at the Manguzi police station and will be sent back to Mozambique to face charges of contravention of the Immigration Act and stock theft. ‘Recovered stolen livestock was positively identified through brand marks and were transported by members of the Stock Theft unit to Bhambanana for quarantine purposes,’ said Mbhele.
