Another John Ross Parkway warning

Zululand Observer - Monday - - ZO NEWS - Tamlyn Jolly

LAST week’s heavy rains have caused the further deterioration and what looks like an imminent collapse of yet another section of the John Ross Parkway.

A portion of road near the John Ross and Arboretum intersection appears to have been undermined by an underground storm water system.

The ZO reported the issue to the City of uMhlathuze some four months ago, when cracks first began to appear in the right hand lane of the westbound carriageway, next to a drain at the centre median.

To date, no follow-up appears to have been carried out and the road has rapidly deteriorated from recent rains.

‘The John Ross/Arboretum crack has been reported to the Department of Transport for inspection,’ said City of uMhlathuze Communications Manager Mdu Ncalane.

‘We will follow up again on this one.’
