Red Beast after provincial heavyweight boxing title
AFTER making a huge statement at Time Square Casino in Pretoria a fortnight ago, Richards Bay professional heavyweight boxer Joshua ‘Red Beast’ Pretorius is preparing to make an even bigger one. This when he takes on Chatsworth’s Marc Subramoney for the KZN heavyweight boxing title on 24 or 25 November in Mtubatuba.
The Red Beast, who boasts a pro fighting record of five wins by KO and two points losses early in his career, is excited about the fight and relishes the chance of bringing the title to Richards Bay.
‘But I have to put my head down, put in the hard yards and work for the win.
‘One-two combinations and body shots are going to be key against Marc in the fight, but once again I am going there to make a statement and go for the KO.’
The fight is scheduled for 10-three minute rounds and a win for Pretorius will not only hand him the KZN title, but also make him the number one contender for the SA heavyweight title.
Subramoney boasts a record of five wins, one loss and one draw and will be no pushover for the Red Beast.
‘We will train hard, build on current fitness levels and bulk up ahead of the fight.’
Josh weighed in at 101.4kgs for his last bout and aims at weighing in at 104kgs.
‘Six boxers came down this weekend to spar with me and then we might go to Johannesburg to spar with other TopBox fighters ahead of the bout.’
Joshua ‘Red Beast’ Pretorius will be looking to deliver another knock-out blow to clench the KZN heavyweight boxing title come 24/25 November
