EMPANGENI POLICE are on the hunt for a suspect who ruthlessly murdered a local traditional healer in a taxi on Tuesday morning. According to King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, Zinja Sibiya (60) had been travelling in a taxi from the Mkhandlwini area in Ubuka. ‘The victim along with other passengers were on their way to Empangeni when the suspect, who had been seated directly behind Sibiya, requested the driver to stop near the Mtimona area, Jabulani, on the R34 so he could get off. ‘The suspect then produced a firearm, cocked it and fired multiple shots at Sibiya, who had been seated in the passenger’s seat. ‘The suspect then fled the scene into a nearby open field. ‘Empangeni SAPS have opened and are investigating a case of murder,’ he said.
