Understanding doesn’t pay the bills

- Dave Savides

ONE of the many people affected by the coronavirus ramifications is popular local entertainment host, Keith Eaton.

Especially in demand as a sport broadcaster and commentator, Keith has in fact received a ‘double whammy’ as antiCovid-19 measures are enforced and he is literally without income at present.

‘The coronavirus has had a serious impact on my livelihood since the announcement was made by our president on Sunday.

‘Events have been postponed or cancelled and even the fire and first aid training I do for a company in Durban, has been halted until further notice,’ said Keith, who is also respected for the number of gigs he does for charities, including the Rotary Club of Richards Bay.

‘As a freelancer we look at all the big work we get for the year and that has to carry us through the slower months.

‘The big work has gone, the small jobs are gone and at the end of the month we still have to pay bills.

‘I do understand, and I am all for flattening the curve on the virus, however freelancers who do not earn a fixed salary and depend on scheduled work have now been affected badly.’
