Toyota Corolla Hatch gets new features for 2020
Toyota SA has given its Corolla hatchback a smattering of extra standard equipment, while also confirming the option of two-tone exterior paint.
All three variants in the local hatch range now feature wireless smartphone charging as standard.
In addition, the range-topping XR derivative has gained ‘Toyota Safety Sense’, the Japanese firm’s active safety suite that includes a pre-crash system, blind-spot monitoring, lane trace assist and ‘all-speed’ cruise control.
Furthermore, the XR flagship’s LED headlamps have been upgraded to include an automatic high-beam function.
Bi-tone colour options have been added to the palette, with pearl white, satin silver, emotional red and Caribbean blue, each paired with a black roof.
Pearl white and Caribbean blue can no longer be ordered in monotone configuration.
Nothing has changed under the bonnet, where the company’s turbo-charged 1.2-litre, fourcylinder petrol engine still develops 85kW and 185Nm.
As before, there’s the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox and a continuously variable transmission.
A six-service/90 000km service plan (with intervals of 15 000km) and a three-year/100 000km warranty are included, along with in-car wi-fi connectivity (including a complimentary once-off 15GB of data).
Pricing for the Corolla hatch starts at R361 900 for the R1.2T Xs derivative and tops out at R423 100 for the 1.2T XR CVT Bi-Tone.
