Educational, financial and wellness programme
TO shape young minds, a financial and wellness programme was rolled out at three Zululand schools last week.
Spearheaded by Linzwa Foundation in a joint venture with BB Bread and Vodacom, the programme began at Masakhane High School in the Ndabayakhe area on Tuesday and proceeded to Matamzana Dube High
School in oGobandlovu as well as Qhakaza High School in KwaDlangezwa on Thursday.
The programme taught learners about financial and wellness matters, warned them about the dangers of substance abuse while also advising them about matters relating to gender-based violence.
‘No child deserves to suffer whether coming from a rich or poor family. They all deserve a decent life.
'Linzwa Financial Wellness aims at teaching students and the community at large about the value of money while encouraging education through Vodacom E-school, which is a free platform for students from Grade R to Grade 12.
‘We are living in difficult times where learners are more at home than at school. We figured out as a community and family foundation that we need to intervene and come up with solutions, hence financial wellness and free online education,’ said Lindiwe Dube of Linzwa Foundation.
During the programme, all learners left with a stationery pack, two loaves of bread, a lunch box, sanitiser, body spray, toothpaste and sanitary towels for the girls.
Other supporters of the programme were Zululand Observer charity arm, Do I
Care Enough? (DICE), Winter Warriors, Izithunywa, Sibongile Organisation and Galawela Productions.
