New BT-50 to arrive in July

- Val van der Walt

Mazda here in SA says the all-new BT-50 is set to enter the market in July, and has released some details of what we can expect of the bakkie when it goes on sale.

Local BT-50 buyers will have three trim levels to choose from; Active, Dynamic and Individual.

The Active will be powered by a new 1.9-litre turbo-diesel engine delivering 110kW and 350Nm.

Dynamic and Individual both run Isuzu’s new 3.0-litre turbo-diesel, which is good for 140kW and 450Nm.

The new BT-50, of course, has been constructed from the ground up in close collaboration with Isuzu, the next D-Max and the Mazda to share a lot of similarities.

Furthermore, Mazda SA says only the BT-50 Individual model will be available in 4x4 guise, with the others all rearwheel-drive.

Standard features in the new BT50 will include an MDZ Connect infotainment system (with a screen size of 7- or 9-inches depending on the model) and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

All models will come standard with cruise control, LED headlights, reverse camera, parking sensors, Trailer Sway Mitigation and seven airbags.

While these features are standard across the board, Mazda has not yet provided details about the spec differences between the grades.

Autodealer will share with Mazda enthusiasts more details - like pricing - when Mazda SA releases this information.
