Red Beast ready to get back into the square ring

- Richard Springorum

AFTER months outside the ring, the time has finally come for Joshua 'Red Beast' Pretorius to climb back inside as he takes on Capetonian Juan Roux in Cape Town on 16 July.

This will be a tough ask for the heavyweight brawler who is coming off a recent title loss against SA Champion Tian Fick.

Red Beast will face the undefeated Roux in an eight round, non title contest.

The Richards Bay fighter has managed to maintain his number two SA ranking and will hope to catapult himself to number one with a win over Roux.

Irrespective of the outcome, the Red Beast camp has stated that they will officially submit a challenge to Boxing South Africa for another shot at the SA title.

'Fights are vary scarce due to Covid-19 and we are looking forward to get back into the ring against a very capable and in-shape Roux,' said coach Corrie Pretorius.

'Many changes have been made and a brawling Josh, wielding his massive power, will be back to his winning ways.

'A full camp is under way, and we are confident that his fitness and power will be on the forefront of his 'style' during this bout.

'Red Beast will re-group and be in full 'title challenge' mode in our second charge for the SA title.'
