Awesome foursome
Sign on for PSL promotion
THE pre-season ‘hunt for talent’ that saw Richards Bay FC scouts hold soccer trials at a number of different venues in the region, has borne excellent fruit.
Not only has the pool of talented young players been developed and moulded into a fine Multichoice Diski Challenge outfit, but a few real diamonds have emerged from the rough rookies who started the journey.
And last week, four of these young finds secured exciting football futures when they signed five-year contracts with the club.
Ntlonelo Bomelo, Siphesihle Buthelezi, Thandoluhle Gazu, and Sanele Zulu put pen to paper on Wednesday.
This has two extremely positive elements: one is that, as professional footballers, there is no limit as to what they might achieve in their PSL playing careers over the next decade.
They have been given the launching pad that thousands of other young hopefuls can only dream of.
The other is that the NRB management has quickly pulled the carpet out from under other clubs who have no doubt being eyeing out the quartet over the course of the season.
Nicknamed ‘The Bomb’, Bomelo is a striker of enormous potential, underlined by him scoring all the team’s goals in a 5-3 win over Polokwane City in November.
He has the physique, natural talent, and desire to become a ‘hitman’ of the highest order.
Untiring midfielder Gazu dominates the engine room of the Diski side which is presently on a seven-game unbeaten streak, while Buthelezi adds to the side’s attacking power when not breaking down opposition threats in the middle of the park.
Zulu is a centre back who provides stability on defence and has the physical attributes that will mature with experience as he rubs shoulders with seasoned campaigners.
While the signing of the individuals is a personal coup for the foursome, the injection of youth into the Rich Boyz’s ranks also adds a special energy dynamic that will surely pay huge dividends.
